Please read these terms carefully before making a booking.

1. Definitions
"We", "Us", "Our" refers to carhire.scot. "You", "Your" refers to the person making the booking and/or the driver(s) of the hired vehicle. "Vehicle" refers to the car or other vehicle hired through our service.
2. Booking and Payment
All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation. A deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance is due before or at the time of vehicle collection. We accept major credit and debit cards.
3. Driver Requirements
All drivers must be at least 21 years of age (25 for premium vehicles). Drivers must hold a valid driving licence for at least 12 months. Additional drivers must be declared and meet the same requirements. International visitors must provide valid documentation including passport and International Driving Permit where applicable.
4. Insurance and Liability
Comprehensive insurance is included in all rentals, covering collision damage waiver (CDW), theft protection, and third-party liability. An excess applies to all claims - the amount varies by vehicle category. You are responsible for any damage caused by negligence, breach of these terms, or use of the vehicle outside permitted areas.
5. Vehicle Use
The vehicle must only be driven by authorised drivers named on the rental agreement. The vehicle must not be used for illegal purposes, racing, or any activity that could damage the vehicle. Smoking is prohibited in all vehicles. Pets are only permitted with prior agreement and may incur an additional cleaning fee.
6. Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. If returned with less fuel, you will be charged for the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee.
7. Mileage
All rentals include unlimited mileage within the UK and Ireland.
8. Delivery and Collection
Free delivery and collection is available throughout Scotland. You must be present at the agreed time and location. Late returns without prior arrangement may incur additional charges.
9. Cancellation Policy
Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to one day's rental. No-shows will be charged the full rental amount.
10. Breakdown and Accidents
24/7 breakdown assistance is included. In the event of an accident, you must report it to us immediately and obtain a police report where required. Do not admit liability at the scene.
11. Security Deposit
A security deposit will be held on your payment card for the duration of the rental. This will be released within 5-7 working days of returning the vehicle in good condition, subject to any deductions for damage, fuel, or other charges.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by Scottish law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
